Hi! My name is Cherie Wu and I’m an incoming 8 th grader, who lives in Houston, TX. You can find me creating art, learning math, and dancing in my free time. I enjoy creating booklists so much, because I always feel fulfilled and delighted to present readers with awesome books. Plus, I feel so thrilled to share the excitement and beauty of reading with all young readers, like you! As George R.R. Martin says, “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only one.” Creating kindergarten booklists for almost two years, I get inspiration for compiling my booklists from reading together with my brother who is a kindergartener. Ever since I started reading with him when he was three, I found that kids at a younger age enjoy a wide range of stories: animals and science, book series with a main character (e.g., Pete the Cat, Biscuit, Peppa Pig, Berenstain Bears, and such), books with a straight storyline, and even stories with unexpected plots. Recently, I was reading “The Giver” by Lois Lowry, which is set in a utopian society. To all readers, keep on reading!
